Fear and Anger
Over a cup of coffee, a friend started talking about the day’s political news, their voice rising as they asked, “It’s ridiculous! Can you believe this!?!”
Their words washed over me and all I heard was frustration, hopelessness, fear and anger…
Honestly, I am tired of this. Not tired of the news, keeping up with important issues or talking about it with friends, but tired of the fear and anger. I have a feeling I am not the only one.
Hopes and Dreams
I want to live in a world where people talk openly about their hopes and dreams. I want to hear voices full of excitement, possibilities, and visions of a better world. I want to discover a “Great America” that is open to hearing all points of view. With this project, I offer a non-judgmental space for people to share what they wish for themselves, their family and their community.
I love storytelling and adventure. I know I’ll find beauty out on the road and in the hearts of the people I’ll meet along the way.
That doesn’t mean I’ll agree with everyone’s vision of a Great America or their opinion of what would make it Great. However, I cannot wait to hear their stories, see the sights, and get to know America in this intimate way, one by one, across the country. I believe in storytelling, in the power of listening with an open heart and mind.
In Search of the Great America is about creating an opportunity for connection and healing in these divisive times.
